Starting point

Nottinghamshire
NG2 6PS

Meet at Gamston Community Hall Car Park (free and no height barrier - I'm getting the hang of planning for drivers...) Head out of Gamston and up to the river via the cycle highway on Regatta Way. Join the River Trent and follow it down past Beeston Marina, to Attenborough Nature Reserve. Come back along the Nottingham and Beeston Canal, with a little loop round Holme Pierrepont Lake (if we fancy it) then back to Gamston.

*Ignore the bit where I said it's 'doable on a road bike' - it won't let me edit that bit...Part of the path washed away near Beeston Weir and its a bit too lumpy.*

River, cafe, nature reserve, canal, watersports lake - for those of us who enjoy a flat, leisurely ride by water :)

Mostly gravel paths with some bits of road and cycle path. Doable on a road bike but an alternative would definitely be preferable.

Stop for a snack at Canalside Heritage Centre (Beeston Marina) if it's dry. Probably Attenborough Nature Reserve Centre if it's damp :) Oh my gosh, I've just realised that the pub at the start and end point is currently being converted into a Hickory's BBQ. Next time we do this ride, we are definitely finishing with food there!

Please wear a helmet and bring anything you may need to fix a mechanical. We never leave anyone behind. Stronger riders are invited to spin faster to keep the same pace as the group. Under 16s must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

First-timers welcome!
