Starting point

London

This is one of our regular local rides, enjoying quieter roads, riverside paths and views, and a lovely café stop.

We will take quieter roads from Ealing, down to Chiswick Bridge and cross the river to Mortlake, where we have the option of a short pause to view the extraordinary tomb of Sir Richard Burton in St Mary's Churchyard https://www.stmarymags.org.uk/tomb-of-sir-richard-burton, before riding on through Barnes and joining the riverside path for a short distance into Putney. Crossing back over the river, we enter Bishop’s Park where we might make a short detour to view the memorial to the volunteers from the local area who joined the International Brigade in the Spanish Civil War https://www.iwm.org.uk/memorials/item/memorial/18023.

Then we reach our destination: the historic Fulham Palace, once the home of the Bishop of London. We will enjoy delicious refreshments in the café and maybe have a stroll around the gardens if the weather is fine. https://www.fulhampalace.org/visit/

Our homeward ride takes us further through Bishop’s Park and the quiet roads of Fulham, back to Ealing via Ravenscourt Park and Acton.
