Forth Bridges Viewpoint from Craigleith

A steady ride out to the viewpoint overlooking the iconic Forth Bridges and the Kingdom of Fife.

Outward via Davidsons Mains, Cramond Brig and Dalmeny with a refreshment stop at the viewpoint cafe or in South Queensferry. If the weather is kind, we can cycle over the road bridge and back, just for fun.

Returning to Cramond Brig, we will head northwards to Cramond and cycle along Silverknowes Esplanade before rejoining the Blackhall path taking us back to our starting point.

The route is mostly tarmac with a short section of hard packed gravel along the River Almond Walkway. It is largely on cycle paths and quiet roads. It is, however, quite hilly in places. Some short sharp ones and some longer draggy ones. With some nice flat bits and downhills in between. It can be a good opener for those wishing to increase their stamina for climbing hills at an easier pace. We will not leave anyone behind!

Helmets are recommended. Bring method of payment for refreshments if you wish to purchase anything at the cafe, or bring your own. It's a good idea to carry a spare inner tube or two and any tools necessary to remove your wheels should you encounter a sharp object. A strategy for getting yourself home along with your bike is also a good idea (eg friend/taxi/insurance). Just in case.
