Join me for a lesuirely ride on our local roads in place of the cancelled fat Lad at The Back Up North sportive. FLAB social rides NW Leicestershire joins forces with FLAB social rides Derbyshire and FLAB social rides Leicester South West to offer 3 distances 25, 50 and this the biggy of 75 miles.

Starting from Elvaston castle on the outskirts of Derby we will head out through Aston and Weston on Trent, Swarkestone and on to Willington. From here the route starts to get a bit more hilly as we climb up through Milton and Ticknall to Boundary. We then drop down into Blackfordby where the 75 mile route splits from the 50 mile route, ( last chance to back out of the big one and join the 50 mile riders as they head over to Moira) we turn right and head through Albert Village, Church Gresley, Caldwell and into Walton on Trent. We will then turn and head into Rosliston for a stop at Beehive farm cafe. After we have refuelled we start the return leg through Botany Bay, Overseal and Moira and then over into the Leicestershire villages of Packington, Griffydam and Belton. We will pass through the Grounds of Whatton hall where there may be a chance for some more food if they have their cafe open by then, and then the final flat route back through Kegworth Sawley and Draycott to Elvaston Castle.

This will be a ridden at a pace that everyone is comfortable with and we won't leave anyone behind.

Unfortunately due to COVID _19 regulations we have sadly had to cancel our Big Fat Bike Ride 2021. Instead, we have decided to run a free event for the whole FLAB community, the Big Fat Bike Ride On T' Road.
The Big Fat Bike Ride On T’ Road is an event that brings the sportive to your doorstep. Those who want to get involved are encouraged to ride their chosen distance on their local roads. These will not be led rides, they are simply a group of FLAB’s getting together to ride, eat cake and have a fun day out on their bikes.
The event will take place on Saturday 22nd May, when all restrictions are scheduled to be lifted. Any changes to this will be communicated via our social media channels and email.
To join in the discussion and find people in your area, go to our Big Fat Bike Ride On T' Road Facebook Group - https://www.facebook.com/groups/252598103012760
Some of our FLAB Social Ride Flampions will also be joining in on the day and some of them will be arranging their own groups. Find out more about the FLAB Social Rides by following the discussions as they develop on the Facebook Group or on the specific FLAB Social Rides Facebook Groups which can be found here - https://fatladattheback.com/pages/flab_social_ride_locations
To help make the Big Fat Bike Ride On T' Road event FLABulous we have put together a little starter pack for you to get the most out of your day. This includes information about the event, steps to getting involved, tips on planning a proper good route from our chief Flampion, links to help you find a group to ride with and your very own bike badge.
