Five Pits Trail & Chesterfield Canal Loop

Leaving the car park on Timber Lane we will head along the Five Pits Trail towards the Trans Pennine Trail at Arkwright and ride along the TPT to join the Chesterfield Canal.

We can view the ongoing works at Staveley Basin with the new bridgeworks for the extension of the canal

A refreshment stop at Hollingwood Hub before heading towards Chesterfield. On leaving the canal we will join a cycleway to the Avenue Washlands a regenerated wetland reserve born out of the old coking works.

From here we climb a short incline into Grassmoor and the country park heading back to Timber Lane and the starting point of this ride.

A variety of lanscapes along the route will make for interesting conversations.
