Starting point

From the Sport Hub car park, we ride out to the Cheney Manor estate and turn left to join up with the cycle path alongside Akers Way. We follow the cycle path as the road becomes Moredon Road then we head left into the estate to take us to Thamesdown Drive.

We turn left onto the old railway line path and follow this all the way into West Swindon.

Turning right at Westmead we ride under Mead Way, then turn left and follow the stream to reach Westlea park. We turn left and head up to Mannington and cross under Great Western Way. At the lights we cross the Wootton Bassett Road and follow the cycle path all the way to Blagrove. Exiting the Blagrove business park, we cross Great Western Way at the lights and ride alongside Whitehill Way, crossing under the road at Windmill business park, then cross Hook Street and follow the cycle path through Grange Park to reach the Shaw Ridge cycle path.

A left turn takes us past the edge of Lydiard Park and then we meander through Middleaze park. Passing under Roughmoor Way, we then ride alongside it to reach Peatmoor Community Woodland. The path takes us around the edge of the lagoon before we exit into the Peatmoor centre and ride through an estate to arrive at the old Purton Road cycle path. The cycle path descends down to meet the canal which we cross by bridge and pass the Southern half of Haydon Henge. Crossing the road by the traffic lights we pass the Northern half of the henge and then follow the cycle path back to the Sporting Hub.

An evening ride from Moredon Sports Hub to Swindon’s very own stone circle, Haydon Henge, circling around the parish of West Swindon. This is one of a series of gentle evening rides exploring an area of Swindon.

The route is on quieter traffic roads and cycle paths. It’s a pretty flat route that circles around West Swindon. Part of the route is along the old railway path, making it unsuitable for road bikes.

As this is a short ride there won’t be any official stops. However, there is a café at the start and finish.

Please bring a bottle for your bike with your favourite thirst quencher and snacks to keep you going. For all your rides we recommend that you bring a spare inner tube that is suitable for your bike, plus a pump. If your wheels are bolted on, then please bring a spanner that fits your bike’s wheel nuts. You should dress appropriately for the weather and consider bringing your mobile phone along with cash or a debit card. Some places only accept card payments these days. As this is an evening ride please bring lights for your bike as part of the ride will be after sunset.

We welcome anyone to join us and ride with us, whether this is your first time or someone who has participated on previous rides. We will never leave anyone behind.
