Down to the beach with a hint of nostalgia

Meet in the car park in Cally Woods, Gatehouse of Fleet (please note that the post code is not exact). We'll cycle past the Cally Palace Hotel and golf course and take the woodland track down to the beach at Sandgreen, following in the footsteps of the ladies of the mansion who went down in their carriages to bathe. This is a dirt track and not really suitable for road bikes. At Sandgreen, we continue on to Carrick Shore with the beautiful Fleet Islands in the near distance before heading back to Gatehouse on the road.
This is not a suitable ride for beginners as there are a couple of hills on the way back - however, there will be plenty of stops to catch our breath and take in the views along the way, with thoughts of a cafe stop at Cream of Galloway to keep us going.
Helmets are essential on all Breeze rides and please bring a drink and snack, tool kit and spare inner tube. Given the time of year, it is recommended to wear warm and waterproof clothing and gloves. You'll also need cash/card and a facemask for the cafe stop.
