An afternoon ride to Surrey Quays, in East London, for a bit of cycling shopping! We will visit The Charity Bike Shop and Decathlon. Although there’s a lot of cycling lanes in this route, there is also the odd normal traffic roads and junctions, so you need to have certain confidence to ride in London on a Saturday afternoon.
The Charity Bike Shop is a charity of Cyclists Fighting Cancer, who support children with cancer and currently have great deals on Rapha and Cycology gear. We then visit the Decathlon London flagship, where we can grab a coffee, although there are lots of food and drinks options around Surrey Quays Shopping Centre. Although we are allowed to get into these shops with our bikes, bring a lock to give you more freedom to roam.
We go through Westminster and Waterloo on the way in, and return via Rotherhithe, London Bridge and the City. We aim to be back at around 6.30pm, but please allow extra time for unexpected delays.
If you find this ride fully booked, sign up to the waiting list as spaces always become available nearer the date. However, please do not sign up if you’re not sure you can come, and cancel your space as soon as possible if your plans change.
IMPORTANT POINTS: *Helmets aren't compulsory but advisable. *Check that your tyres are pumped and bring a spare inner tube and all necessary tools in case of a puncture. *We have a 3-strike policy: those who don’t cancel but don’t turn up on the day of the ride 3 times will be banned from booking on other rides. *Only riders who are booked on this ride will be allowed to join. *Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains.
