Starting point

Wiltshire
SN2 2QP

Week 8 of the Couch to 100km in 10 weeks presents us with the 80km (50 mile ) milestone, where we will have two café stops ( the second stop is a ‘pee&tea’ shorter stop). We will leave the MSH at 08:30, travelling out to the village of Purton via the Fox. We will then travel up through the village, where we can all enjoy the thrills of what is now known as ‘Tanias Hill’ aka Pavenhill. We then make our way across the Thames Valley, travelling via Minety, Ewen, Kemble and Tarlton, reaching our first café The Jolly Nice @21 miles. Our second leg is a downhill section, travelling along the valley edge via Cherington, Culkerton, Oaksey and South Cerney, to the café that Emma missed on wk 4, the Wild Olive at Butts Farm (pee & stop) @39miles. We then have a short 11 miles back to MSH via familiar roads with the wind behind us

The weather at this time is sunny 20c with a gentle north easterly breeze. Please remember sun cream!

The total ride is 49.9m(80km) with a projected 1530ft elevation. Will do a lap of the car park if needed, to ensure everyone gets 50miles.

Can we please aim to be at Moredon Sports Hub for around 08:15hrs, so we are able to set off at 08:30hrs.

The Café
1. Cafe & Bar – Jolly Nice

Please bring a bottle for your bike with your favourite thirst quencher and snacks to keep you going ( Cycling nutrition for long rides ). For all your rides we recommend that you bring a spare inner tube that is suitable for your bike, plus a pump. If your wheels are bolted on, then please bring a spanner that fits your bike’s wheel nuts. You should dress appropriately for the weather and consider bringing your mobile phone along with cash or a debit card for the cafe. Some places only accept card payments these days.

We do welcome anyone to join us and ride with us, whether this is your first time or someone who has participated on previous rides. We will never leave anyone behind.

We look forward to seeing you on the ride!
