Starting point

Derbyshire

A mainly flat route following greenway created from disused colliery lines to Poolsbrook where we go around the north end of the lake to the Trans Pennine Trail which follows the Chesterfield Canal along the towpath to Tapton Lock. We will return via (almost) the same route to Clowne.

The greenways pass through open countryside and the canal is the restored Chesterfield section of the Chesterfield Canal which will eventually be navigable to the River Trent - the route is walkable already (48 miles one way) and could be ridden on a suitable bicycle although there are some stretches that may be difficult for some less skilful riders.
