Starting point

Renfrewshire
G3 8RS

A ride to the hills of South-East of Glasgow to enjoy views over the city and beautiful countryside roads.

We'll follow main cycle ways heading South-East of Glasgow to the Cathkin Braes Country Park. Soon the road starts going uphill. We'll cross through park and reach the hill top, with stunning views on the park and Glasgow in the distance. We'll the head towards Nerston Village and around Dechmont Hill, on beautiful, quiet and undulating country roads with perfect tarmac to enjoy the descents. Return is direct on the road through Cambuslang and Rutherglen, then cycle path along the Clyde.

This is a hilly ride: the total ascent is 900ft. Because part of the ride is on roads with fast motor traffic, a moderate level of confidence and fitness on the bike, and a helmet, are required.

We'll stop briefly at the top of the Cathkin Braes to enjoy the view but there are no facilities. We'll have a quick break at Kingsgate Shopping Park (11 mi), where cafes and a supermarket are available.

Suitable for any geared bike (in good working order), preferably with road tyres. We'll ride at moderate, steady pace. Bring water and snacks as needed. Helmet compulsory.
