THIS ROUTE IS NOT SUITABLE FOR ROAD BIKES WITH SKINNY TYRES

This route takes in the tranquil and historic road through Carmichael Estate.

We leave the historic market town of Lanark on the cycle path passing the scenic Lanark Loch and racecourse before crossing the Clyde at Hyndford Bridge (built in 1773 by Alexander Stevens) and heading onto the cycle path. We then head along quiet back roads to the village of Carmichael and turn left pass through the very scenic Carmichael Estate.

The road through Carmichael Estate is very rough in places, so not suitable for road bikes.

We then head over to Covington and then onto to Pettinain before arriving back at Hyndford Bridge to cross the Clyde again and climb back up to Lanark.

Please note that the majority of this route are on cycle paths and quiet roads, but there is a sections of around 2 miles on a busier A-road.
