A visit to a lovely park tucked away in the corner of Wimbledon Common, then returning via the Wandle Trail through Wandsworth and Putney. This is a leisurely ride, with plenty of time to explore Cannizaro Park and have a picnic.

** Please note: you will need to bring your own food & drink, as there are no cafe facilities in the Park.**

From Ealing, we take our familiar route down to the river at Chiswick Bridge and ride through Mortlake to enter Richmond Park at the Sheen Gate. We ride across the corner of the Park, descending Sawyer’s Hill to leave at the Roehampton Gate and ride up the steady climb through Roehampton to Putney Heath.

Off road tracks take us across Putney Heath & Wimbledon Common, past the Windmill, and on to Cannizaro Park. Here we park our bikes at the entrance to explore the gardens on foot and have a picnic refreshment stop. The Park offers many features of interest, including formal gardens as well as woodlands https://cannizaropark.com/.

Our return ride takes us through Wimbledon Village, before dropping down to join the Wandle Trail and following it back to Wandsworth. We ride down to Putney and along the riverside to Barnes, then over Hammersmith Bridge and back to Ealing via Cycleway 9 through Chiswick.

Please note:-

- This is a slightly longer ride than most of our Friday rides. If you don’t want to ride the whole distance, you can connect with train services from Wimbledon or Earlsfield to Clapham Junction, or from Putney towards Barnes, Chiswick, Kew Bridge, Brentford. See the TFL map here https://tfl.gov.uk/maps/track/national-rail

- There are no refreshment facilities in Cannizaro Park. Please bring your own food & drink for a picnic. There are plenty of benches throughout the Park and picnic tables in the Italian Garden.

- Parts of the ride are on unpaved tracks across Putney Heath & Wimbledon Common. The surfaces are mostly quite good, but they can become muddy in parts if we have wet weather. Road bikes with skinny tyres are not suitable.

- Cycling is not permitted within Cannizaro Park. There is bike parking at the entrance. You can wheel your bike around with you if you prefer, but there are flights of steps around the formal gardens.
