A little culture and charm in Islington. We cycle to Caledonian Park to view the beautiful Clock Tower and the gates which describe the history of this park, and then follow to Freightliners City Farm to see some animals. This is an easygoing ride with a mix of quiet roads and cycling lanes, as well as some busier roads.
THE DESTINATION: Caledonian Park, also known as the Cally, housed the Cally Market and, before that, the Metropolitan Cattle Market. Its fascinating story can be found here: callypark.london/. Its neighbour Freightliners Farm was once the site of Lost and Starving Dogs, today known as Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, founded by the local Mary Tealby.
THE ROUTE: We cycle through Camden, the Regent’s Canal, Regent’s Park and Maida Vale.
We aim to be back at Roundwood Park before 3pm.
