start 9:30 Pedalling Squares, Quality Row Rd, Gateshead NE16 3AQ Derwent Reservoir 49 miles, The Route:- Leave Pedalling Squares and cycle to Blaydon, over Newburn bridge and then to Wylam. We then cycle to Ovingham, past Bywell to Stocksfield and then to Hindley. At the bottom of Whittonstall bank we turn right and follow signs to Kilnpit Hill and then to Blanchland. We have a cafe stop at the White Monk Tearooms, Blanchland. After our break we cycle out of Blanchland through Ruffside, Edmundbyers to Shotley Bridge. We then turn left following signs to Gateshead, through Ebchester to Hamsterley Mill. We turn right, sharp left and after 1/2 mile we turn left to join the Derwent Walk back to Pedalling Squares. This is a cycle ride on quiet roads but finishing on the Derwent Walk track. This is Not a flat ride and has some hill climbs but well doable by regular cyclists. The distance is 49 miles and is a lovely cycle ride through Northumberland and Durham. The cycle ride is suitable for any type of cycle but is for adults only. This is a no drop ride with no number restriction. We do aim to cycle at 11-13 miles per hour but we do re- group on a regular basis. Your cycle needs to be in good condition and you should carry two spare inner tubes with you as we do get punctures and it is quicker and easier for the group if you just replace your inner tube. It is important during the ride to pass back instructions eg. car front/back, bollards, slowing down etc. do not pass the leader unless you know the road ahead
