- We will cycle on delightful country lanes via Bottrells Ln, Magpie Ln, Winchmore Hill, Penn Street, Holmer Green, Little Kingshill to Great Missenden
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/33560669 - We will stop at Matilda’s at GM for coffee/snacks/lunch.
- Then come back via Frith Hill, Hyde Heath, Chesham Bois and Little Chalfont
https://ridewithgps.com/routes/33560697 - We can also have post-ride coffee/snacks at The Deli in CSG.
- Please bring the usual (inner tubes, pump, etc). I would prefer you to wear a helmet for your safety.
- This has some steep hills and descents, so you need to be fairly confident riding, but we will regroup at the top of every hill and nobody will be left behind.
- If you are driving, there is free parking on the roads around the village green e.g. Bowstridge Lane HP8 4QJ.
- If coming by tube you can take the Metropolitan Line or Chiltern Rail to the Chalfont & Latimer station at Little Chalfont and cycle 2 miles to the start (best via Burtons Ln and Roughwood Ln), (e.g Chiltern Rail departs Harrow on the Hill at 9:39 and arrives at C&L at 9:58, while Met Line departs Harrow on the Hill at 9:41and arrives at C&L at 10:06).
- You can take your bike anywhere on the Metropolitan Line off-peak (peak hours are Mon-Fri 7:30-9:30 and 16:00-19:00). For info see
https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/cycling/cycles-on-public-transport- You can take your bike on Chiltern Rail nearly any time of day – see
https://www.chilternrailways.co.uk/customer-service/travelling-your-bike - I can’t see who is on the waitlist, so if you are on it, send me a message via the “message ride creator” button, with your phone number, and I will see whether I can make another space (you need to be logged in to the Let’s Ride website to see the button)
- As well as the toilets in Matilda’s and The Deli, there are public toilets at CSG and GM.
- Please check your bike thoroughly before you come. Check your brakes are working well, your gears are smooth and your tyres are in good condition and pumped up – you can use this video.
