Most of the route follows dedicated, gravel cycle tracks and bridleways, across open fields and also within a woodland setting. On a clear day, views are expansive across towards Portsdown Hill and the start of the Meon Valley.

This ride offers an introduction to off-road cycling, at a leisurely pace. This ride does not include technical off-road riding. However, there are several challenges on the ride, which include riding on varied, loose gravel surfaces and gradients, and includes negotiating Funtley Hill, which is a steep gradient.

This is a short, leisurely ride. The start and finish of the ride, will follow quiet residential roads, before joining dedicated, traffic free, gravel cycle tracks and gravel bridleways, across open fields and woodlands.

The preferred location for the refreshment stop is The Corner Cafe, in Welborne Garden Village. Please note, that there are currently no dedicated cycle racks available adjacent to the Cafe, and therefore, cycles must be secured to appropriate street furniture (eg lamp posts) in a considerate manner that does not block access or footpaths. There are plenty of options to secure cycles in this manner right outside the Cafe, in full view, for added reassurance. For this reason, ride participant numbers is necessarily restricted per ride, at present.

Please note that this ride is only suitable for MTB’s, e-MTB’s, gravel bikes, or e-gravel bikes. Cycle helmets must be worn. Please bring a cycle lock to secure your cycle at the cafe and some money for refreshments. Please wear clothing that is suitable for the weather conditions at the time of the ride, noting that the weather conditions can change quickly. It is recommended that participants also carry a tyre puncture repair kit.
