A short climb out of Ware to Hertford Heath then downhill to Broxbourne and a flatter tour of the Lea Valley Park with a café stop at the White Water Centre before returning through the park and via Stansted Abbots. Bring a mountain bike or hybrid. Road tyres not recommended for the Lea Valley Park.

Want to increase your cycling capacity with a like-minded group? Can we build up from 20 miles to 30 miles - yes we can!

Most of the ride will be on quiet country lanes or quiet residential roads. There will be the occasional section on busier roads and there will be sections that are hillier but nothing that you can't do or walk up if necessary. Some of the ride can be on traffic-free sections, if specified.

Depending on the length of the ride (and possibly the weather / temperature) we will either have a café stop half-way or a café stop at the end. We will always stop at the top of hills to allow people to catch up and have a breather; no-one gets left behind. We always ride at the pace of the slowest rider.

Please always bring your helmet, pump, spare inner tube, repair kit, bike lock, phone and water bottle. You may wish to bring your Covid kit (mask / hand gel etc). Bring a card or cash for the cafe stop. Please check the weather before you come and bring appropriate clothing (e.g. rain jacket, gloves, hat if desired). It is always a good idea to know how you can change a puncture - here's a link to an online video. If you are dusting off your bike for the first time in a while, please ensure you check that your brakes are in working order, your tyres are pumped hard, your seat is at the right height etc. Please ask your local bike shop to check over your bike before you come along if you are not sure. Here's a link to an online video to check the basics. Please check the conversation box below for any updates on your ride.
