Breeze Watford Cassiobury Park to Apsley Lock

Starting from Cassiobury Park, this route will take us along quiet roads and canal towpath to Apsley Lock where we can enjoy some delicious snacks and drinks at one of the cafes alongside the Marina.

Please bring a sturdy bike lock as we may not be able to see the bike racks from our seats in the cafe.

A mixture of on-road and offroad, mostly on the canal towpath. It is suitable for hybrid, MTB and gravel bikes. Due to the narrow and uneven towpath we would not recommend this route for road bikes or adaptive bikes. If you have an e-bike you must be able to push it / lift it over any canal bridges or stiles / gates or other obstructions that we may come across.

The route is mostly flat and easy-going. However, if you want a challenge on the way back then we can add in a short on-road section with a couple of small hills to get the blood pumping! The reward for this is that we can take a look at the new nature reserve on Gypsy Lane. Or you can choose to return via the flat route on the canal. We can decide on the day, and split the group if necessary as we have a number of Breeze Ride Leaders to guide you along the route.

Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear a helmet as the route goes through some bumpy terrain. Don't forget a drink and a snack, a spare inner tube or two, suncream, and some cash or a card for the cafe stop and in case of emergency.

Please arrive by 10:50 so we can run through a riders register and bike checks before we set off.
