Alban Abbey Stn Car Park Holywell Hill St Albans Hertfordshire

Tip - It is easy to reach the start by train. Take the 11.54 train from Watford Junction to St Albans Abbey. There are lifts at the station for bikes. The train arrives in time for our 12.10 departure. There is also reasonably priced parking at St Alban's Abbey station if you take your bike by car to the start. Starting at the station, we'll ride along the lovely and flat Alban Way until we reach the Galleria centre at Hatfield. The Alban Way is an old railway line which has been properly surfaced and so offers mud-free riding, even in winter! We come straight back to St. Albans where we head to "The Pudding Stop" in the heart of this historic town. This café is run by a former contestant from the Great British Bake Off and serves divine sweet treats. After having a lovely treat we return to the Abbey Station. Trains for Watford Junction depart 15.32 arriving at 16.16. This route is mainly traffic-free apart from our detour to the café in St. Albans. A perfect holiday ride for the family, and special treat. Recommended for experienced children who are comfortable riding at least ten miles. Please bring water, a lock for your bike and money for the café stop. Helmets are essential for children.
