We will ride to Richmond Park through various Parks and Commons of South London, linking them by cycling for the most part along quiet streets but also a few potentially busy roads and tricky junctions. You should be confident riding in urban traffic. Although there is some climbing, they are mostly long, slow climbs with some occasional steep bits. The approximate elevation gain for the ride is +/- 500m. You must be able to use your gears efficiently for this ride. There will be a refreshment stop at one of the many cafes in the park, but this will be more of a lunchtime stop, so it is best to bring a snack and a drink.
There is the option of looping around part of the park which would add about 3 miles to the distance of this ride. However, there is the possibility of seeing deer! This is a long ride but should be an enjoyable day’s cycling. If the distance proves too much, there is the choice of leaving the ride at Herne Hill and returning to Kent House by train.
