- We will cycle mainly on quiet roads and cycle paths to the Rowan Café at the Rowan Garden Centre near Chalfont St Giles. The exact route we take will depend on what bikes people turn up on. If there are any road bikes then we will stick to the tarmac roads, but if they are all hybrids then we might take a track through the Uxbridge Golf course to get to Denham, rather than riding via Uxbridge.
- We will wait after the hills and nobody is ever left behind.
- Please bring a pump, and at least 1 spare inner tube. A lightweight bike lock is fine as we will probably manage to get a table close to the bikes. I would prefer you to wear a helmet for your safety. As we will also be riding on the road consider adding flashing lights to your bike and wearing high visibility clothing.
- I can’t see who is on the waitlist, so if you are on it, send me a message via the “message ride creator” button, with your phone number, and I will see whether I can make another space (you need to be logged in to the let’s ride website to see the button). If you need me to make the start time a little later so you can get to the start by public transport let me know.
- You can take your bike anywhere on the Metropolitan Line anytime on weekends and off-peak Mon-Fri (peak hours are 7:30-9:30 and 16:00-19:00).
https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/cycling/cycles-on-public-transport- If you are driving to the start there is free parking on many residential roads off Long Lane e.g. Richmond Avenue UB10 9BH (Easier to park at the east end of the road near the Windsor Avenue end, then come along the cycle path beside the A40 to the tube station).
- Please check your bike thoroughly before you come. Check your brakes are working well, your gears are smooth and your tyres are in good condition and pumped up – you can use this video.
