Starting from - Starting point is the free car park on Woodstock Way. Head into Caldicot from Magor and go past the Co-op and straight over at the crossroads. Take the next left (signed to supermarket). This is Woodstock Way. The car park is on the right just after the Grey Hill medical centre. If coming in from Chepstow direction, take the first right after the roundabout and go along until the left just before Asda (and beside Marlow vets). Turn left here and follow the road round and past Aldi. The car park is just past here on the left. There are toilets available nearby. NP26 4FF

From the car park we head out of Caldicot through the castle grounds and use a combination of roads and cycle paths to get to Black Rock. We then head out to Crick and use the back lanes (and a short stretch of main road) to reach the garden centre. After a refreshment stop, we will go up the longer, steady climb to Shirenewton and then reap the rewards of a lovely view as we descend to Caerwent. Then it's through the village and back into Caldicot using the cycle path in the park.

A nice steady scenic ride from Caldicot via Black Rock to Chepstow Garden Centre. Return is via Shirenewton.

This route covers a mixture of roads. There are quiet country lanes, some traffic free sections and also some busier roads. We will also have one steady climb and a quicker descent.

Our main stop will be the cafe at the garden centre. There will also be rest/photo opportunities at the castle and Black Rock. We always stop to regroup at the end of each climb or descent.

Please ensure you are wearing a helmet and have some basic equipment to deal with a puncture. Also bring a lock and money for our cafe stop.
