Durham Breeze Starter Ride Langley Park to Lanchester
Thurs 16th June 2022 6.45pm 7 miles
Diggerland Entrance, Langley Park DH7 9TT
Join us for this short ride which is part of our weekly summer series of Thursday evening starter rides in the Durham area during May, June and July. These rides are suitable for those new or returning to cycling to build up confidence and stamina over the weeks, while enjoying the summer evenings and good company.
During May we’ll cover the flattest and shortest routes and as the weeks go by the miles and hills (can’t be avoided around Durham) will increase.
Doing as many of the rides as possible is recommended to reap the greatest benefits.
For today’s ride we’ll be starting in Langley Park and will be riding along the Lanchester Valley railway path to Lanchester via Malton and back. This is as flat a ride as you can find near Durham and all off road. Our county’s disused railway network of multi user routes are a unique and treasured resource for cyclists. Safe, mainly flat and often sheltered from the elements. A great springboard for many a ride.
A hybrid bike is the best choice for this ride although mountain bikes and robust road bikes will do the job.
In order for the ride to leave promptly, please be punctual so we can carry out bike checks, etc. prior to us setting off. Please make sure your bike is in working condition and bring a spare tube to fit your tyres. Expect to be out for up to 2 hours.
As always we can’t predict the weather so please dress suitably.
