A lovely ride around Cardiff and the Bay, and a great opportunity to see how much more joined up Cardiff’s cycle lanes are becoming. We ride to the city centre mostly on cycle lanes before joining the Taff Trail. We follow the trail to Cardiff Bay and after crossing Pont y Werin Bridge, we pass Penarth Marina and head over the Barrage to our coffee stop. We then use the cycle lane on James Street to re-join the Taff Trail to the City Centre. The scenic route back is via Bute Park, along the River Taff, and finally up another cycle lane towards Heath Park and our start point.

This is a steady and generally flat 17-mile ride, mostly along traffic free trails and dedicated cycle lanes, with just a few unavoidable stretches on road. This ride is suitable for most types of bikes.
Please wear a helmet and bring money for the cafe. Also, make sure your tyres are pumped up, check that your bike is working, bring a spare inner tube and your helmet!
