This ride is for those who are new or returning to cycling and would like to ride with others and explore the local area. This will be a gentle ride from Beddington Park and along the Wandle Trail to Merton Abbey Mills using a mixture of cycle paths and quiet streets. Covid-19 Guidance: Please do not attend the if you or someone in your household has symptoms of Covid-19 or you have been asked to self-isolate. You should be prepared to respect current social distancing rules.
The paths along the River Wandle are very pretty, there are art installations and relics from the river’s industrial past. The route will be mainly along cycle paths or quiet residential streets.
Our café stop will be the Stableyard Café, a restored stable yard with a café, second handbook shop and exhibition space. If the café is busy, we can take our drinks out and sit on the picnic benches outside.
You will need to bring your own equipment including a pump, spare inner tube, tyre levers, water, and a snack. You may also wish to bring a face mask and alcohol hand gel. Bring a helmet and make sure your bike is in good working order and that the tyres are pumped up.
First timers welcome! No-one will be left behind. The ride will also be a good opportunity to meet other women with an interest in cycling.
