Starting point

Nottinghamshire
DN21 1NQ

Grab a Greyhound is a very flat route starting from the Old Shipyard DN21 1NQ, just go right down to the end of the lane and there is plenty of parking space, or if arriving by cycle, follow the route along the riverside from Trent Port public house (Trent Bridge). We will head up into Beckingham, along through Walkeringham, Misterton, West Stockwith and along the level straight roads to Wroot where we head off to Blaxton Common and Tia Greyhound Rescue for refreshments. We head back to Wroot and on to Upperthorpe (Westwoodside), a short climb from here to Haxey (home of the Haxey Hood) East Lound, East Ferry and Gunthorpe before we retrace our route back to the start. I have avoided the busier roads as much as possible other than from Beckingham to Misterton.

The scenery includes the Rivers Idle and Torne, in an area drained in the 17th century creating the open flat landscape we can enjoy on our ride. Just one modest hill to challenge us so a fairly easy ride.

There is a longer and earlier option, half an hour earlier and adding about 12 miles to the route from my home. Please message me if you are interested in the longer route so that I can send you the postcode.
.
Please bring some cash or card to buy your refreshments, the means to fix punctures and your helmet. I advise bringing a lock as our cycles will not be visible from the cafe. Estimated speed is around 13mph but we will not leave anyone trailing behind.
