Big Breeze Bike Ride pays Tribute to Beryl Burton

Not only is this ride part of the Big Breeze Bike Ride, but it is a Tribute to Beryl Burton MBE, OBE, wife and mother, who cycled her way into the record books becoming world and British record-holder and, with determination to be the best, she always cycled home a hero. Back by popular demand, Maxine Peake's play “Beryl” (A Yorkshire woman's cycle through life) opens at West Yorkshire Playhouse on 27 June until 18 July before going on a countrywide tour. This will be a road ride starting at Tong Garden Centre  BD4 0RY and heading out to Morley and Beryl's Memorial Garden near the town centre.  LS27 9BU This is an 11 mile ride, but depending on the weather and the enthusiasm on the day, there may be options for extending further. Wearing a helmet is advisable; if you don't have one please do not to worry you can still take part. If you enjoy the bike ride and would like to come again perhaps you could look to buy one then. We really welcome newcomers to our rides; we will always ride at the pace of the slowest rider so no one is left behind. All you need is a roadworthy bike, sensible clothing and a bit of enthusiasm.
