Beics Brenin Women’s Rides – Sarn Helen Explorer

This is a mountain bike ride, run by L2 mountain bike leaders who are also Breeze Champions. This is part of the Beics Brenin Women’s Ride Series. This ride is suited to women who can confidently ride blue trails and have ventured onto the red trails. We will head out up the fire road, past the old Go-Ape hut and out onto the old council road, here the fire road climbs steadily until it splits off onto the old Sarn Helen route. This is an uphill, rocky section, so we will have to push bikes up a short section. Once at the top, the view over the Rhinog Mountains are spectacular (if it is a clear day). From here, we head across fairly wild moorland and drop down to a small tarmac road, over a very pretty river and then a short steep climp up to join part of the national cycle way. Once we get back into the forest area, we have the chance to try a couple of fun trails, Adam and Eve and Serpents tail. We will then head back down the fire road for a well earned cuppa! Please bring suitable warm clothing and waterproofs as the weather can be changeable in the forest. The ride will take approx. 120 mins. If the weather forecast is poor for this day, then the route will be modified. Helmets are compulsory for this ride, together with suitable cycling gloves and ideally glasses. These are the usual prices for afternoon hire only, so it is a good saving on the usual day rate. Booking in advance is advisable. Car parking charges also apply at £1 per hour, £3 half day or £5 full day.
