Be Well Woods and Flashes

This is a challenging ride and not suitable for beginners. Please only join the ride if you are capable of riding the distance.
The ride will leave Robin Park and head towards the Leigh Branch of the Leeds and Liverpool canal at Poolstock.

We leave the towpath at Bamfurlong canal bridge for a short cycle on road before going through Viridor Woods, crossing the main road again and then cycling around the 3 Sisters Lake where we will have a short stop. After a rest we will cycle to the viewing area and then continue back to the main road via Bamfurlong and back to the canal bridge. We will stop just before the canal bridge to allow traffic to pass then cross the road to rejoin the towpath.

We will continue on the towpath to Pennington Flash where we will have a short stop and then onwards for refreshments. After refreshments we will cycle around Pennington Flash towards Lowton Sailing Club where there is a short section of road to Byrom Hall woods. After cycling through the woods we will rejoin the road to Plank Lane lift bridge and then go back off road to Fir Tree flash. The next section of the route involves some climbs and will continue through to Bickershaw to go through the Beacon Road estate and through a pot holed section to Park Road, Hindley where we go through the woods to Liverpool Road and Amberswood Common.We will be off road through Amberswood to the Wigan flight of canal locks where we will cycle back to Robin Park.
