We visit the Light Festival 2022 at Battersea Power Station, where we will see 6 stunning light installations, which are even more impressive in the dark - see more about the festival at
https://bit.ly/3IMp9I7. A set of fully charged front and rear lights is compulsory. This ride is only suitable to those who are confident in traffic, as we need to cycle in the dark which makes keeping together as a group a little more challenging. We go at a steady pace.
We set off via Kensington Gardens and South Kensington until we cross Albert Bridge which takes us to the North Carriage Drive at Battersea Park. We cross the park to the East side where we soon find ourselves at Battersea Power Station going along the river. From this point we will push our bikes so we can visit and truly appreciate the installations which are close to each other.
We carry on a little ahead to a coffee break at the cute Black Cab Coffee Co, and then to Embassy Gardens to view the new US Embassy, as well as the suspended glass swimming pool, Sky Pool. We make our way back via Vauxhall Bridge, Pimlico and Knightsbridge to Hyde Park, and Maida Vale until Roundwood Park.
IMPORTANT POINTS: Helmets aren't compulsory but highly advisable. Make sure that your tyres are pumped and you have a spare inner tube and all necessary tools in case of a puncture. Places are limited and sometimes get booked up, normally with a waiting list. If you develop Covid-19 symptoms or have been told to self-isolate, or can't make it for any other reason, please cancel your space so someone else can join. Only riders who booked themselves on the ride will be allowed to join. Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains. Dress for the weather and bring a rain coat just in case.
