Starting point

London

By late February, the days are getting longer, so we can enjoy a longer ride without worrying about being caught in the dark!

From Ealing, we will make our way down to Wandsworth Bridge, where we cross the river and follow it along Battersea Reach and into Battersea Park, where we might have a brief pause. After crossing the Park, we will ride on along Nine Elms Lane, turning off to explore the new developments around Battersea Power Station and on Embassy Square, where we will see the US Embassy and the Sky Pool. From here it is a short ride past Vauxhall Bridge, then cutting through Lambeth to reach Waterloo where we will visit the extraordinary exhibition of bronze lions in the Millennium Park. See the links below for more information.

Then we will move on to the South Bank where we will stop for refreshments at the Street Food Market. https://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/visit/cafes-restaurants-bars/scfood-market . At the time of posting, the South Bank Centre requires all visitors to wear a face covering and to show a Covid Pass to gain entry into the building. https://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/visit

Our return ride takes us over Westminster Bridge, then follows the segregated cycle tracks across Parliament Square and into the Royal Parks. We turn down Exhibition Road, passing behind the Albert Hall to make our way via Earls Court, Fulham, and into Hammersmith. Here we will join the new Cycleway 9 through Chiswick to Kew Bridge, and then back to Ealing.

Please do not attend if you have any Covid 19 symptoms, have tested positive, or are currently required to self-isolate. Please bring a face covering (unless you are exempt) for use in enclosed public spaces.

Please note that if you want to go into the South Bank Centre (e.g to use the toilets), you will be asked for a Covid Pass. Please see this link for details of what is accepted: https://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/visit

We ride through Battersea Park, then explore the new riverside developments, before going to the South Bank for refreshments, and returning via the Royal Parks.

We use quieter roads where possible, but there will be some busier roads and junctions; riverside shared paths and segregated cycle tracks.

We will stop for refreshments at the South Bank, where there will be the Street Food Market as well as the cafes and restaurants.

Money/card for refreshments. Lock for your bike. Face covering for use in indoor spaces. Check the South Bank website for Covid pass requirements https://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/visit
