Austwick between the peaks

500m climbing 6-7mph

A classic Yorkshire MTB ride. Suitable for someone who is a fit cyclist but maybe new to MTB. Definitely not a beginners route quite a lot of climbing so good fitness or ebike propelled. I would say blue and red grade in technical terms if you are use to trail centres.

Picking up the Pennine Bridleway. A mixture of hard pack limestone tracks, and single track over to Horton in Ribblesdale. Then under the Settle to Carlisle railway line, a glimpse of the Ribblehead viaduct. Then a climb upto Thieves Moss for lunch. An absolutely awesome downhill to the magical single track of Wharfe. A climb back up and over to Feizor, and down the track back to Austwick.

A classic Yorkshire ride, riding close to, but not up, Ingleborough and Pen Y Ghent.

A lot of off road tracks, some single track, some double track and country lanes.

We will stop at Thieves Moss which is over halfway, to eat our lunch. Fabulous views of Pen Y Ghent and magnificent Limestone Pavements.

No helmet, no ride. Packed lunch. There is a cafe about 2 miles from the end if you aren't in a rush to get back. Innertube etc that fits your bike. Make sure your bike is in good working order. We aren't mechanics !!
