Ashton Portland basin

This is a lovely route to Ashton portland basin. We will start from Longford park in Chorlton and we will cycle on the road to join the Fallowfield loop. We will follow the loop till Audenshaw and will join the Ashton canal. This route is mainly traffic free, there is no major difficulty. The canal towpath is bumpy and rough and is not adequate for road bikes. You need to be comfortable with the distance. Unfortunately, we will have to carry our bikes up some stairs to go across the canal to the café. We can all help one another with this!!
We will stop in the café at Ashton Portland Basin and we can have some food or a drink. There will be an opportunity to visit the museum (free entrance) for the riders who wants to have a look round.
Remember to wear a helmet, bring a drink and some money for the café.
Don't forget to bring a lock, an inner tube and a puncture kit.!
