Starting point

We leave Apperley Bridge Station and almost immediately turn into Woodlands Drive which is a private road. We then cross the A65 to go past Leeds Trinity University. Going past Horsforth Station we head up to the radio masts in Cookridge. We head towards Adel Church and past York Gate Gardens before going along Alwoodley Lane and Wigton Lane. Turning past the Dexter Pub we cross the ring road to enter Roundhay Park and a well earned break. Leaving the park we go past Oakwood Clock before going along the Gledhow Valley and then King Lane before retracing our steps to Adel. Going past Cookridge Hall we go past Leeds Bradford Airport and the end of the runway before passing by Yeadon Tarn. Going downhill from there through Yeadon we go past Wood House Grove School before entering the station car park and the end of the ride.

Route rating

0 stars (0) Reviews

Varied urban and semi-rural route with a chance to look at some of Leeds' most exclusive properties en route to Roundhay Park which is one of the largest city parks in Europe and covers over 700 acres. Journey back takes in Leeds Bradford Airport plus Yeadon Tarn.

Most of the route is on quiet suburban roads with good surfaces. There is one short bridle way on the way back but only if it has been dry! There are three A-roads to cross on the way back so confidence in traffic is desirable.

We will stop at the big café by Waterloo Lake in Roundhay Park. This will be after 12 quite hilly miles and just under halfway round the route.

Please wear a helmet, bring spare tube and suitable clothing.

We never leave anyone behind
