This moderate-to-challenging ride is suitable for both occasional cyclists and those with a little more experience. It is a good choice if you are comfortable pedalling 20 miles or so at a steady pace of 9 to 10 mph. (If you haven’t cycled for a while, or are unsure of your abilities, consider starting with an easy ride instead). The route is mainly on roads and cycle paths and is fairly flat much of the way round. Some of the cycle paths have uneven surfaces, so road bikes are not recommended. There are one or two hills for you to ride up at your own pace, with a chance to regroup and have a short rest at the top if needed.
