All Change!
Start Merryoaks Community Centre, Park House Road, DH1 3QF
Join us for a bike ride to The Story, Durham’s stunning history collection and visitor centre where we will join in with the Stockton and Darlington 200 celebrations by visiting the current exhibition All Change depicting the impact of passenger railways on North East life. We can also enjoy refreshments here.

We’ll start our ride from Merryoaks Community Centre, head down to The Stonebridge and pick up the railway path at Langley Moor. From here we’ll head down the Scripton Gill bridleway and on through Croxdale Estate. We’ll pop out of this on the A177 to freewheel down Shincliffe Bank and through the Uni, up to The Story.
We’ll be riding a mix of tarmac and railway path dusty gravel and a mix of on and off road. And of course, as it’s Durham there will be a few up and downs. Suitable for most bikes, apart from skinny road tyres.
Please come suitably dressed for the weather and make sure you’ve got a spare tube to fit your tyres. Expect to be out for at least 3 hours including our stop at the Story.
If you cannot make it please cancel your place and if last minute, ie the morning of the ride, please also put a note in the ride ‘conversation’.
