Led by Chris and Martin, this ride is part of Horwich Ride Socials 'Winter Miles Summer Smiles' winter cycling campaign. If you complete 4 of our community rides over January and February, then you will receive a small gift.

The ride starts at the Cycle Surgeon workshop on Turton Road from where we head off for Ramsbottom, along cycle route 6 to Haslingden, then along Haslingden Road towards Blackburn. There is then a climb to our well-deserved café stop at Roddlesworth. We then head back via Belmont Road, Longworth Road and Darwen Road into Bromley Cross and back to the start point. The route is a mixture of road, cycle trail and hike-your-bike where you’ll need to walk with your bike for a few hundred yards. The ride is suitable for both gravel and hybrid bikes.
The ride is challenging largely because of the ascent rather than the distance. The total ascent is about 2500 feet.

You must be a member of HRS to take part. If you are not already a member, then please go to our website at https://www.horwichridesocial.org/ to complete a New Participant Form. Helmets are mandatory on our rides and we always recommend carrying lights. Please ensure you bring a spare inner tube, tyre levers and a pump in case of a puncture. We will have a cafe stop at Tockholes but please bring any additional drinks /snacks you may need. Remember to check the weather forecast and dress appropriately, we'll still cycle in the rain.

We never leave anyone behind
