A Winter Breeze Through History - De-Cyphering the Past!

De-Cypher the Past! – Spot the Kings and Queens on this tour of hidden treasures.

The ride starts at Sefton Park Cafe and follows a mixture of park paths and residential streets. We will learn about the history of the iconic British red post boxes and see how they have become a living piece of history.

We will make our way from the Georgian Quarter of the city to the Albert Dock to see the rare “Liverpool Special” post box, before making our way back along the river front to Sefton Park, where there is an opportunity to stop for a hot drink and chat in the park café.

This is part of a series of six short winter rides, led by a qualified Liverpool tour guide. The rides will each cover a different aspect of the heritage and history of our wonderful city of Liverpool. The shorter distances are ideal for the winter weather!

All the six rides in this series will be on a mixture of traffic-free paths and roads, so participants need to be confident riding in traffic and using their gears to climb some uphill roads. However, we will only be riding at a speed of around 10mph with plenty of opportunities to stop, to view and learn about the sites on the routes. So, the rides are great for anyone who is new to riding in a group, new to the city or just wanting to get out and about and learn a bit about Liverpool.

We will return to Sefton Park at the end of the ride, where there is an opportunity to stop for a hot drink and chat in the park café.

Any roadworthy bike is fine. Warm and weather-proof clothing is required as it is Winter!! Please bring a drink and a spare inner tube that fits your bike's wheels.
