Join Jeannette and Agnes as we start at thornton school head over the viaduct for a short sharp ascent of headley lane then ascend pit lane . we turn left onto the main brighouse denholme road before turning right onto mill lane and old guy road / fleet lane. we turn left then right onto hill end lane before wiggling through the country lanes to northawram and a cobbly descent to shibden park.
we will cross at the lights at this busy junction and enter the park via old godley lane. For those interested we will have a look at shibden hall (made famous by the recent gentleman jack series) then retire to the cafe at the bottom of the park for lunch break.
after a lunch break we will exit via old godley lane again and use the crossing to reach staups lane for another stretch of cobbles to exit onto kell lane and blake hill . past the lovely shibden mill inn and start our ascent of lee lane and "shibden wall".. we will descend ploughcrot lane , turning right at the end for a short section of the busy queensbury haliax road beore turning down howcans road towards holmfield. we will cycle through holmfield , passing the historic holdsworth house) and its a slow ascent of bradshaw to again meet the busy brighouse denholme road. we turn left and will cycle (with care) the main road for approx 800 yards before turning right (with care) infront of keelham farm shop onto deep lane.
at the bottom we turn right onto malt kiln lane to retrace our pedal way back to thornton school.
