IMPORTANT INFORMATION THROUGHOUT – PLEASE READ IT ALL BEFORE JOINING

This is a day out in the Greenwich Peninsula and Isle of Dogs, stopping at various points of interest for pictures and admiring the views. It’s a leisure ride and as such will not be hurried, it truly is a day out to enjoy London. We also take the cable car (yes, with our bikes!) to cross the river from Greenwich to the ExCel, which sometimes have a bit of a queue.

This is one of our longer rides with lots to see, so you need to be able to ride all day (with breaks). We also have to cycle through some busy junctions and roads (although it is mainly a quiet segregated route) so you need to be fairly confident in traffic.

We head off to Vauxhall Bridge to cycle south of the river all the way to Rotherhithe where we will see some interesting statues like Dr Salter’s Daydream and Peter The Great. We carry on cycling along the river until we reach Greenwich. If the weather is nice we can have a picnic at Cutty Sark Gardens, or you can pop up at Greenwich Market for food (beware, it’s very busy!).

After our lunch break, we continue in the direction of Greenwich Peninsula until we get to the cable car. To avoid the ticket office queues, please bring a contactless card or phone with pay app which can be used at the gates in and out of the cable car (single adult fare £6 – an Oyster card can be used but travelcards or special discounts do not apply). We are allowed 2 in each car with our bikes.

On the other side of the river, we continue our adventure along the Thames Path at the Isle of Dogs with beautiful views of Canary Wharf along the river, and then cycle along C3 all the way back to Hyde Park.

Those who feel tired or don’t want to carry on will have several options along the route to take a train back (DLR, Overground, Elizabeth Line, and even the ferry from Greenwich to Westminster). On top of our lunch break, we will have 2 coffee breaks for a rest – one in Southwark on the way in, and the last one in Limehouse at the Yurt Café, on our way back. We aim to be back at Roundwood Park by 5.30pm.

If you find this ride fully booked, get in the waiting list as spaces always become available nearer the date. However, please do not sign up if you’re not sure you can join.

IMPORTANT POINTS: *Helmets aren't compulsory but advisable. *Check that your tyres are pumped and bring a spare inner tube and all necessary tools in case of a puncture. *If you can't make it anymore, cancel your space so someone else can join. *We have a 3-strike policy: those who don’t cancel but don’t turn on the day of the ride 3 times will be banned from booking on other rides. *Only riders who booked themselves on the ride will be allowed to join. *Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains. Dress for the weather and bring a raincoat just in case. *We sometimes video record our rides which are later published on YouTube. By joining our rides, you are authorising your image to appear on the video and photos.
