THIS RIDE: a RECCE ride to criss-cross a total of 16 bridges in London, from Kew to Tower Bridge. This is NOT a British Cycling assisted ride which means I have not previously ridden it to ensure its safety and flow. You need to be confident in traffic and comfortable with the distance at a steady pace.

DESTINATION: No particular destination – just the target of criss-crossing London’s main bridges without coming back and forth on the same route. We will stop for lunch in Vauxhall Bridge, most likely a Portuguese restaurant called Casa Madeira, but that’s up for discussion and there are a few options just around.

THE ROUTE: A mix of some quiet roads, lots of shared towpaths, a few cycling lanes, and busy roads with potentially complicated turns where everyone will need to be switched on and signalling their intentions to stay safe amongst motor traffic. As this is a recce ride, there is a chance of stopping at certain points of it to reevaluate the best course. We aim to be back at around 4pm but as this isn’t a tested ride, it could end up being more. Bring bike lights for the end of your return home.

IMPORTANT POINTS: *Helmets aren't compulsory but advisable. *Check that your tyres are pumped and bring a spare inner tube and all necessary tools in case of a puncture. *If you have Covid-19 or have been told to self-isolate, or can't make it for any other reason, please cancel your space. *Unless the weather takes a nasty turn making it unsafe or unpleasant to cycle, this ride will go ahead even if it rains. Dress for the weather and bring a raincoat just in case. *Please be advised that we video record some of our rides which are later published on YouTube @PlacesWhereMyBikeTakesMe. By joining them you are authorising your image to appear on the video.
