Established in 2007 as the Camden Peripherique and re-named a couple of years ago, join us for the 10th edition of our popular and much loved bike ride.
What kind of bike ride is this?
This is a friendly, easy-paced bike ride that covers 22 miles and gives you the chance to enjoy some of Camden’s wonderful sights and scenery. We visit every ward on Camden’s boundary, then cycle through the central wards and finish at Hampstead Old Town Hall. We break in Golders Hill Park, where you can buy lunch, or bring a picnic.
The ride will be marshalled by Camden Cyclists and Camden cycling instructors, and riders will be accompanied by Camden police officers.
The ride is free and you do not need to register – simply turn up on the day with your bike!
Who is it suitable for?
This ride is suitable for those with a range of cycling abilities who feel comfortable cycling on the road as part of a group. Under 16s must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Please bring plenty of water, snacks for along the way, and a bike lock.
What are the timings?
Bike checks start from 9.30am and the ride starts at 10.30am. You can always stop, or join, en route and we’ll publish an approximate timetable nearer the time.
Tell me more about the route
We will ride round the boundary of Camden in a clockwise direction starting from the Town Hall. We follow the border of the City and Westminster through Lincoln’s Inn Fields and then turn north and west past the British Museum and into Regents Park. Then we use Boundary Road to head over towards the border with Brent. The borough border is on Kilburn High Road but we take a quieter parallel route just inside Camden (on Abbey Road, Priory Road and West End Lane). We then turn east through Hampstead Cemetery on the border with Barnet, stopping for lunch in Golders Hill Park. After lunch we ride round the Heath extension through Highgate (Haringey) and then down the hill along the border of Islington. When we get back to the Town Hall, we will have ridden 18 miles. Then we ride through the middle to the Old Town Hall at Belsize Park.
