RVCRC Wednesday Evening Social Ride

The rides are generally aimed at riders who are comfortable riding 20 to 25 miles. The rides are organised by members of Ribble Valley Cycling Club, but the rides are open to anyone and there is no obligation to join the club. The ride leader and route will be published on the RVCRC Website Calendar, Members' Facebook or in a WhatsApp group. It is strongly advised that new riders contact the ride organiser, Karl Dalton, for a "Taster". Karl can be contacted by emailing [email protected] or phoning 07810 644840. The aim of the group is take advantage of the lighter evenings in the summer for fun and fitness, subject to weather, of course. It’s also a way of experiencing club cycling without any obligation to joi. There is always a short refreshment stop around the half-way point – often an ice-cream! At the end of the season (September) we arrange a ride and a beer, usually at the New Continental. The rides avoid main roads, and generally explore the quieter lanes north of Preston. We usually ride between 20-25 miles, and speed is dependent on the group’s ability. These rides maybe flat or hilly. Slower riders are welcome – we can arrange for specific ability groups if required. Rides take place on Wednesday evenings between April and September to make the most of the longer daylight hours. We meet at the UCLAN Sports Arena (next to the Final Whistle Cafe) on Tom Benson Way. Meet-up time is 6:00pm prompt to ensure we arrive back in daylight – particularly in April and September. Participants are advised to have lights for the rides in April and September. First Ride is usually the first Wednesday in April; last ride is usually the last Wednesday in September.
