Join the Isle of Wight challenge 2024 Get ready to join hundreds of other cyclists of all ages and abilities in entering the free and amazing 2024 Isle of Wight Mini Randonnée on Sunday 5 May 2024. Come and join riders of a similar ability to yourself, and complete the training rides and event at sociable pace with a supportive group. If you have always wanted to take part in a big challenge, but have never felt confident enough on the hills, or not been able to put in the miles, let’s do it together! Prize incentives, advice on bike maintenance and cycle confidence sessions also available. Guided group bike rides to prepare for the big event Bike maintenance advice Cycle confidence sessions available The chance to win prizes (2 rides completed: Free neck buff, 3 rides completed: Free chain lube, 4 rides completed: Free water bottle 10 week training programme overview (starts 26 Feb 2024) Weeks 1-3: Shorter guided rides of 8-15 miles to build stamina and confidence Week 4: bike maintenance session to learn about bikes and how to fix a puncture (subject to interest) Week 5-7: Skills sessions in traffic free venue (subject to interest) Weeks 5-9: Guided rides increasing distance - 15 / 20 / 25 miles Week 10: Isle of Wight Mini Randonnée event Our goal To enter the 2024 Isle of Wight Mini Randonnée (34miles). What is the Isle of Wight Mini Randonnée? The Randonnée has been running for over 30 years It's a family mass participation event on open roads. It's not a sportive or race. The event is FREE to enter - with an optional donation if you can There are 100km and 55km distance options - The 55km event is geared more for families, follows a route on the East Side of the island, taking in Cycle Route 23. Does it matter if I can't make the Isle of Wight date? No - our regular weekly social rides are free and you can still win prizes for coming on Isle of Wight Challenge rides!
