A lovely route of 11 miles that takes in a 2014 Commonwealth Games Venue (squash and table tennis), NCN 7 (one of Sustrans’ original cycle routes in Scotland and a corridor for wildlife through a built-up area), and Clydebank’s new promenade with superb views up and down the River Clyde (the old site of John Brown’s Shipyard, The Titan Crane, The Jubilee Hospital, Erskine Bridge and all against the back-drop of the Kilpatrick Hills). You then take The Forth & Clyde Canal, once a major transport link across Scotland and now used for leisure and as a wildlife corridor. Watch out for various water birds and a wide variety of wild flowers. Check out how the canal locks allow boats to go up and down hill. Finally you head back to base along Victoria Park’s Nature Path. Look out for a Sustrans’ painted mile post.
