Frenchwood Recreation Centre

This 5.5 mile circuit explores the banks of the River Ribble, taking in three of the area's fine parks. Using a combination of traffic-free paths and suburban roads, this circular route starts at Frenchwood Recreation Ground from where it heads to the Victorian Avenham Park, with it's superb Japanese water gardens, before heading through Holme Road Park and returning via Hurst Grange Park, with its mature woodland and children's playground. There's a tearoom at Avenham Park where you can rest, refuel and take in the beautiful riverside surroundings. Despite being but a few miles from Preston's busy town centre, this clever river corridor route has a distinctly relaxed and leafy feel - the perfect way for you and the family to spend some quality time together.
