This 23 mile route affords fantastic views of the Avon Valley as it follows the route of Brunel's Great Western Railway eastwards into the countryside between Bath and Chippenham. On its way it passes a WW2 airfield and then journeys further back in time, retracing the footsteps of the Roman legions as it makes its way along the Fosse Way back to Bath, or 'Aquae Sulis' as the Romans called it. This route follows roads and traffic-free paths and is hilly in places. However, there are great refuelling points at the White Hart Inn in Ford and also at Biddestone at the easterly end of the loop.
