Small Heath Wellbeing Centre

This mainly off road ride takes in many of Birmingham's wonderful parks and green-ways. They say that Birmingham has more trees than Paris and more canals than Venice, well on this ride you get to see many of them! After leaving SmallHeath Wellbeing Centre, you can warm up in Small Heath Park, then follow the recently surfaced Cole Valley Cycle Route through a plethora of small parks and nature reserves along the meandering course of the River Cole and past world famous Sarehole Mill (for Lord of the Rings fans). Onto the canals next, to see some of Birmingham's rich industrial history via tow paths that have been upgraded by the Birmingham Cycle Revolution to make them ideal for cycling. Then the Rea Valley Cycle Route into the city via Cannon Hill and Calthorpe Parks. A quick visit to Highgate Park for views across the city, and then the canal takes you back to Small Heath Wellbeing Centre. Several places to stop along the way for refreshments and toilets. Apart from a couple of short climbs the route is fairly flat.

This ride is organised in partnership with Birmingham Wellbeing Services and Big Birmingham Bikes. Free bike hire is available for this ride through Big Birmingham Bikes, please leave a comment in the conversations tab if you wish to hire a bike.
