Starting in Great Harwood this route takes in some stunning scenery over Blackburn and parts of the Ribble valley, a strenuous start out of Great Harwood give rise to beautiful views stretching as far as the weather permits even as far as the coast near Southport. The descent to the river Ribble takes you through the lovely villages of Clayton le Dale and  Salesbury past village cricket pitches and the quaint St Peter's Church. The route along the Ribble takes you up another short but steep climb to Dinckley and views of Pendle Hill. After riding through Billington you take a sharp right and begin the climb to York, if you have the energy and the weather the views to your right as you climb are stunning over towards Jeffery Hill the other side of the Ribble.
